The wedding venue!!
You'll most likely travel through San Francisco. Take some time to enjoy some of our favorite places.
Best Toast
A hole in the wall spot, we love that this coffee shop fully embodies the owners quirky life perspective. Stop by for a decidant piece of cinnamon sugar toast and coffee, that can be enjoyed on driftwood sidewalk risers, and then wander the block, which has a handful of great spots including General Store, housewears & clothes, Black Bird book store, The woods brewery, and Outerlands resturant, for, at very least a loaf of bread.
7AM-7PM - 4033 Judah St
Best Hike
While there are many great hikes in the San Francisco area, when starting in the city, our favorite is Lands End. We love to start the walk from our neighborhood, the Outer Richmond, walk to Baker Beach, then through Seacliff out to Lands End. Lands End is a former military installation at the northwest corner of the city, and has an incredible view of the Marin Headlands and Golden Gate bridge.
Best Typography
Do you love type? We love type! Letterform Archive is a small but growing collection of typographic specimens in the Potrero neighborhood of San Francisco.
Weekdays 10am - 6pm - 1001 Mariposa St #307
Best Chinese
San Francisco's first Chinatown, near the financial district, offers a variety of Chinese dining options. Our favorite, Z&Y, specializes in Schezuan style cuisine - a spicy style from the inland province. Some of our favorites are dry-fried string beans, cumin lamb, and exploding chili chicken. Don't miss the tea spinning ceremony.
11am - 9:30pm - 655 Jackson St, San Francisco, CA 94133
Best View
Sunset is the perfect time to zip over the golden gate bridge (by foot, bike or car) and climb to the top of Slacker hill. It is the closest hill to the city and has a spectacular view of the city. The microclimates of SF often make it feel like your on a different planet by the time you reach the top. Its magical. :) Park near the circle that connects Conzelman and McCullough and head uphill - once you experience the view, you won't regret the pitch.
The drive from San Francisco is lined with many beautiful sights. Stop along the way to enjoy a diverse set of diversions.
Stop in Boonville on your drive up for an evening or simply just a meal. And when you do, don't miss the Boonville Hotel. A historic roadhouse, the Boonville Hotel has become a hip retreat from the city boasting 15 or so rooms, and a lovely restaurant.
NYT: especially beautiful and its wines are excellent renditions of classic local varietals
The Northern California Coast is home to the Coast Redwoods - an awe inspiring large species of cypress tree. While many of the largest specimens have been cut for lumber, a handful of giants still stand. Hendy Woods State Park, just a short detour off of Route 128, is a great place to experience their splendor. Plan to spend at lest 45 minutes wandering the grove, but it's easy to get lost in the tree's spiritual bounty.
Whether or not you were able to stop at Hendy Woods, you'll experience the prolific coastal redwood forest as you continue your drive towards the ocean down Route 128. Once past Philo, the dry grassy climate of the Anderson Valley succumbs to the wetter band of coastal redwoods that stretches both north and south along the coast. Catching cool moisture that drifts in from the ocean, the redwood forest is often dark and damp while the valley further inland is stiflingly hot. Stop along the road or simply enjoy as the trees fly by - it's a lovely experience either way.
Coastal Mendocino county has a variety of attraction - many on the esoteric end of the spectrum. But don't worry - they all share in the area's profound natural beauty.

This is a casual, women-owned and run restaurant and fishing company. They serve reasonably priced, seafood, and provide outdoor seating, on the harbor. When we were there, they had live music, and the grills going with oysters and salmon. Wander around the harbor after eating to see some seals and fishermen coming in with their catch.

This museum investigates Spring’s spirit of amateur inquiry as a means to open up the collection to new possibilities. We imagine the Museum as a living archive of at-hand art and science resources where diverse citizens engage through collaborative, community-based programs. If you've got the time check it out.
The museum was founded by Capt. Cass Forrington, a retired sea captain in 2009 and has become a "Must See' for all visitors to the Mendocino coast. The Mendocino Coast has the highest concentration of sea glass in the world and is a sea glass Mecca for collectors and sea glass artists from all over the North American continent and the world. This makes it the ideal location for the world's first, and only, sea glass museum. Capt. Cass' sea glass collection, numbering about 150,000 pieces and still growing, is probably the world's most extensive collection and the sea glass museum displays his finest pieces, including rare stoppers, handle pieces, rounds and marbles.

The Gardens was founded in 1961 by retired nurseryman Ernest Schoefer and his wife, Betty. Ernest's keen eye spotted the ample supply of water augmented by the mild coastal climate and quality soil essential to acid-loving plants like Rhododendrons.
9AM-4PM - 18220 North Highway 1
The Redwood Route has been carrying trains, cargo, and passengers since 1885, through the majestic setting of Mendocino County’s ancient redwood groves. Learn more about our history, and what makes us ‘the Skunk’.

This is one of the newest segments of the California Coastal Trail in Mendocino County, located on the headlands west of the City of Fort Bragg. This stretch of coastline has been off-limits to the public and locked behind lumber mill gates for over a century. The wildlife viewing opportunities here are varied and superb, and the 5-mile long trail is easy and accessible to all kinds of people.
